Arguably the most motivating aspect of building a boat is witnessing its shape evolve with each plank. There’s a sense of accomplishment as it takes form, especially when considering what lies ahead. We began planking the boat from stern to bow, adding one plank at a time to each side. While some minor trimming with basic tools was necessary in certain areas, based on past experiences and judging the hull shape, it wasn’t difficult at all. Currently, we’re double-checking the hull, filling in any necessary areas, and moving on to fiberglass work. And, of course, there’s the inevitable task of tons of sanding ahead.
